A Song For My Father
My Dad passed away on New Years Day 2020, he loved to watch old westerns and loved the Singing Cowboys.
Still Riding Strong
MIchael L Prather
Daddy didnt stand all that tall
But to us he was a mountain of a man
He worked himself hard to make a living
There was no doubt about the strength in his hands
He tried his best to do many things
Even to make a living off the land
But most of all he was meant to be a builder
With hammer and nail he'd make dreams stand
He'd sit and watch those old western movies
Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, Gene Autry
How he loved to hear those cowboy songs
and in his mind he'd ride and sing along
Roy and The Pioneers were singing Cool Clear Water
Gene Autry sang of those Riders In The Sky
Oh how he loved to hear those cowboy songs
and in his mind he'd ride and sing along
in his mind he'd ride and sing along
in his mind he'd ride and sing along
Through the years his hair began to gray
it was hard to see him growing old
but when he watched those old Western Movies
he was as young as the cowboys with which he rode
He'd sit and watch those old western movies
Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, Gene Autry
How he loved to hear those cowboy songs
and in his mind he'd ride and sing along
Roy and The Pioneers were singing Cool Clear Water
Gene Autry sang of those Riders In The Sky
Oh how he loved to hear those cowboy songs
and in his mind he'd ride and sing along
in his mind he'd ride and sing along
Roy and The Pioneers were singing Cool Clear Water
Gene Autry sang of those Riders In The Sky
Oh how he loved to hear those cowboy songs
and in his mind he'd ride and sing along
in his mind he'd ride and sing along
And in our hearts he still riding strong
in our hearts hes still riding strong
