perhaps the most revealing and honest song ever penned by Roger (and he wrote a lot of those types of songs...)

Story behind the song
story behind Rog's two LP's, The Wall and Pros and Cons...Roger had both suites of songs pretty much ready to go but he also knew he would (at some stage in the future) leave the band so he wanted to keep the most introspective and emotionally charged set for his solo debut...so, as we soon discovered that sure did see 'Pros and Cons' elevated to some sort of lofty and exalted level, being thought of by it's author as more emotionally wrought, nakedly honest and achingly real than that of The Wall.. man, just gotta love Rog! this version have used Kath's sampled & OG vocals in the mix.
Lyrics
Got a little black book with my poems in Got a bag with a toothbrush and a comb in When I'm a good dog, they sometimes throw me a bone in I got elastic bands keeping my shoes on Got those swollen hand blues I got thirteen channels of shit on the TV to choose from I've got electric light And I've got second sight I've got amazing powers of observation And that is how I know When I try to get through On the telephone to you There'll be nobody home I've got the obligatory Hendrix perm And the inevitable pinhole burns All down the front of my favourite satin shirt I've got nicotine stains on my fingers I've got a silver spoon on a chain. I've got a grand piano to prop up my mortal remains I've got wild staring eyes And I've got a strong urge to fly But I got nowhere to fly to Oooooh, babe when I pick up the phone There's still nobody home... I've got a pair of Gohil's boots But I got fading roots...
