A picked folk song with some string accompaniment.
One of the first songs I wrote in New Cross, and the first song I tried to record when I began this archiving project, so it was taken pretty straight with little embellishment. then. I've cleaned it up and added some strings
The taste of the morning is fresh on your fingers but your eyes disapprove the result
The uneven edge of a second-rate singer is causing a lump in your throat
I know that my thoughts are lost on you now youd never believe them its true
Ah but my indecision is hardly the cause of your blues
Cracked is the cup that you raise to the memory your lips are caressing the stain
Shocked at the sip of an over-sweet coffee you cant seem to lose that refrain
Time checks your thoughts as you look at the hour hand
that tries to inform your youre late
Oh the world is too big you just cant get it all on your plate
Ah but take what you want if you want it
No you dont have to ask me for leave
But dont tell me that you need nothing
Its only you you deceive
I know that feeling that life is unreal dont you ever believe that its not
It come on you stealing your mind as its reeling from all of the sins youve begot
What do you want me to answer how should revelation proceed
Oh is it so fair to expect me to always succeed
Ah but take what you want if you want it
No you dont have to ask me for leave
But dont tell me that you need nothing
Its only you you deceive
Sighs make me nervous your eyes were unsteady but now they appear to remain
Fixed on my own with the help of a mirror and mine seem content with the same
Why do we bother with talking when both of us know what we mean
Why do we bother to sleep unless its to dream
